About the Presenter:  Michael J. Pollock, Senior Director of Advanced Engineering & Manufacturing, Concurrent Technologies Corporation

Michael Pollock is the Senior Director of Advanced Engineering & Manufacturing at CTC and is responsible for Business Development associated with Joining technologies. Mr. Pollock Leverages his education in mechanical engineering to apply advanced solid state joining technology such as friction Stir welding to solve customer challenges. Mr. Pollock supervises a team of Mechanical Engineers, Designers and Project managers who work on a variety of engineered solutions to include design, development, integration, analysis, testing and demonstration initiatives with an emphasis on applied engineering and research. In this role Mr. Pollock is responsible for building and maintaining the capabilities of this department and supervising a team who work on a variety of defense and commercial related design and development initiatives. In addition, Mr. Pollock’s team transitions advanced manufacturing and material technologies across all DoD domains to include Ship and Air Systems, Ground Vehicles, and weapons system platforms. Mr. Pollock spent 10 years in the commercial heavy equipment manufacturing sector before joining CTC. In the commercial sector he was responsible for production process development and improvement and managing new product development and enhancements as well as ensuring production launch success. At CTC Mr. Pollock has performed in the role of design engineer and project manager for new technology development to include low temperature super conductor wire, Hybrid electric drive vehicle systems, Organic mine countermeasure systems, combat vehicle design and development and shoulder launch weapon system development. Efforts in advancement of manufacturing technologies including friction stir welding and cold spray technologies as well as hybridizing technologies such as plasma and GMAW provide enabling technologies for weight and cost reduction. Mr. Pollock’s team executes activities in these areas utilizing both internal research dollars and client funded initiatives to advance the technology raising technology readiness levels toward transition. Mr. Pollock is a graduate of Mechanical Engineering Technology from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and is a certified Project Manager Professional through the Project Management Institute.
